Global Marine Inc.'s Glomar Labrador I jack up was transported from Rotterdam to San Sebastian, Argentina, this summer to begin work under a 1-year contract with Total SA.
The rig measures 133.5 m high, 91.7 m wide, and 80.8 m long and weighs 12,259 dwt. Dockwise NV, Meer, Belgium, transported the rig on its Mighty Servant 2 vessel.
The move was unusual in that, because of a 5.37 m protrusion beneath the rig's hull, the spud cans of two of its legs had to remain in the water during the voyage (the third leg was lowered into the carrier's cargo hold).
Also rare was that, because of the leg positioning, the rig's helideck extended 48 m over the port side of the vessel.
