NOVA Corp.'s Alberta pipeline system delivered record volumes of gas for the ninth straight year in 1995.
Its NOVA Gas Transmission Ltd. (NGTL) unit shipped about 4.3 tcf last year, up 4.9% from 1994. Daily deliveries for 1995 averaged 11.6 bcf.
Largest gains for the year were at the Empress and Alberta-British Columbia border points, each growing by about 100 bcf. Export shipments rose to 3.598 tcf.
In past weeks, with continuing low temperatures across North America, NGTL's system operated without interruption while setting higher records for daily deliveries.
NGTL spent $584 million (Canadian) to expand its system in 1995. Capital outlays for 1996 will be an estimated $400 million. Total investment for 1994-96 is expected to be more than $1.8 billion.
As a result of 1995 spending, the investment base for NOVA's Alberta pipeline grew from $4.1 billion to $4.7 billion at yearend.
NGTL, which lays claim to the title of the main natural gas transportation system in Alberta, ships about 80% of Canada's marketed gas production through its 13,300 mile network.
