Geological and engineering data on oil and gas reservoirs in the northern Gulf of Mexico are available electronically. The digital files include aggregated engineering and production data and spatial location information in Geographic Information System format for pooled reservoirs, fields, and plays.

The digital files include aggregated engineering and production data and spatial location information in Geographic Information System format for pooled reservoirs, fields, and plays.

The data are a significant part of a larger data base being developed in a three year project funded by Gas Research Institute, Chicago, the U.S. Departments of Energy and Interior, and the Minerals Management Service. MMS and the Bureau of Economic Geology compiled, analyzed, and interpreted the project data.

A two volume atlas containing the online data plus more in-depth information and maps is to be published in late 1996 for Miocene and older reservoirs and in spring 1997 for Plio-Pleistocene.
