Pipe for Phillips Petroleum's Mahogany development 16-in. sales gas pipeline feeds off the stinger of Sub Sea International's lay barge in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico earlier this summer.
Installation of Phillips Petroleum Co.'s Mahogany development gas sales pipeline began in late June. Mahogany is the first commercial subsalt oil development in the Gulf of Mexico.
Enercon Engineering Inc., Houston, is providing the engineering, procurement, and project-management support for completion of the 16 in., 9-mile pipeline which will connect the Mahogany production platform at Ship Shoal 349 in 370 ft of water to a subsea tie-in at Ewing Bank 990 in 600-ft waters.
Sub Sea International Inc. laid the pipeline over three pipeline crossings with the DLB 323 lay barge. Later this month, following the installation of the Mahogany platform, the pipeline is scheduled to be tied-in, hydrotested, and dewatered.
Wet natural gas will move through the line when production starts in December. Design maximum allowable operating pressure will be 1,720 psig; design temperature is 110° F.
The Mahogany sales-gas pipeline has a 14-18 mil DFT fusion-bonded epoxy corrosion coating and a 1.5-in. thick concrete/140 PCF weight coating.
