Aquamarine Shipholding Maritime SA, Panama City, Panama, took ownership in April from NKK's Tsu shipyard near Nagoya, Japan, of Tateyama, a new 300,000-dwt VLCC oil tanker (photo). The new tanker, which will operate under the Panama flag, is 333 m long, 60 m wide, and 29.6 m deep with a 20.84-m draft.
Powered by a DU Sulzer 7RTA84T engine, the ship will have a service speed of 16.10 knots, making it one of the fastest tankers in this class, according to NKK. In May, NKK's Tsu shipyards laid a double-hulled keel for a 150,000-dwt Suezmax-class oil tanker for Venus Ocean Navigation SA, Panama City, Panama.
The tanker, which will operate under the Greek flag, will be 274.20 m long, 48 m wide, and 22.4 m deep. It will have a 16-m draft and be powered by a DU Sulzer 6RTA72 engine. The vessel will have a service speed of 15.40 knots.
