Moore Process Automation Solutions, Spring House, Pa., has named William B. Moore vice president of business development and Peter F. Schiano to replace him as vice president of systems research and development.
Moore, who remains vice chairman of the board of directors, will apply his extensive industry knowledge and experience to coordinate the long-term technology and business strategies for the company.
Schiano will be responsible for systems R&D, including APACS+trademark and QUADLOGRegistered hardware, communications, and software. He has held a variety of R&D and manufacturing management positions at Moore, including development leader for the Moore 353 Process Automation Controller and director of manufacturing.

ABB has named Mike Mason managing director of its expanded instrumentation business in the UK, following the successful merger with Elsag Bailey.
Mason was previously UK managing director of Elsag Bailey and takes responsibility for all ABB's instrumentation activities throughout the UK. These include the Control Valve division (formerly ABB Kent Introl), a provider of control and choke valves based at Brighouse, West Yorkshire; the Process Instrumentation division (formerly ABB Kent-Taylor) which manufactures controllers and recorders, transmitters, flow meters and water analysers with principal locations at St. Neots, Cambrigeshire, and Stonehouse, Gloucestershire; and Elsag Bailey Instrumentation which includes the Fischer and Porter and Bush Beach engineering facilities in Workington, Cheadle and Telford. Mason will also have responsibility for the Process Analytics division in Telford, St. Neots and Chester.
The automation systems activities of Elsag Bailey UK will become part of Stevenage-based ABB Industrial Systems Ltd. Sales, project implementation and support of the Symphony and Freelance range of process control systems and after sales support of the Bailey Controls, Fischer and Porter, and Hartmann and Braun installed base of systems will be incorporated into the Projects and Automation Div. under the leadership of Steve Brown, director and general manager, reporting to managing director David Denton.

He will manage Zeolyst's xylene isomerization catalyst business, including optimization modeling of catalyst and recycle streams to select the proper catalyst for optimum performance in each customer's unit. He will also assist in the development of new zeolitic catalysts in cooperation with customers, and manage the delivery of catalysts to Zeolyst's parent and partner companies.

ABB Extrel, Pittsburgh, Pa., has named Luke Kephart vice president, general manager, including Process and General Purpose Mass Spectrometers (MS) and components for the Mass Spectrometer. Kephart will be responsible for product marketing, product development and continuing engineering, and all operations involved in the manufacturing of these products for the worldwide market including inside sales (quote/order management), applications engineering, and production (materials, production planning, production, and test). He will be supported by the human resources, information technology, and financial organizations located in Pittsburgh and Lewisburg.
