Morocco
A second 2D seismic survey was starting in October on the 2.8 million acre Ras Tafelney reconnaissance permit in 100-2,000+ ft of water on the Tafelney Plateau (OGJ, Aug. 16, 1999, p. 90). Vanco Energy Co., Houston, took a farmout from Lasmo plc of a 60% interest in the block, which is adjacent to the south of Vanco's Safi Haute Mer permit. Vanco will operate Ras Tafelney once an exploration license is issued.
Vanco let a contract to Fugro-Geo- Team AS to collect 2,000 km of 2D data on Safi Haute Mer and 1,500 km on Ras Tafelney. The Ras Tafalney interest brings Vanco's holding off Morocco to 7.4 million acres.
Wyoming
Infinity Inc., Chanute, Kan., signed an interim agreement with Babcock & Brown Energy, San Francisco, for coalbed methane pilot work in the Green River basin. BBE will obtain permits, drill a well, evaluate production, and coordinate the efforts of all parties on behalf of Infinity. The well is to spud by yearend.
