Technology Design, mixed drilling technology whip harsh downhole conditions

J. Wayne Wisniewski is a senior petroleum engineer for Pennzoil Exploration & Production Co. in the well engineering group. His responsibilities include domestic and international well planning and drilling operations. His present focus is well planning, and he is particularly experienced in directional and hard rock drilling applications. Wisniewski has been involved in the drilling and completion of numerous horizontal wells throughout the U.S. for more than 10 years and has authored several papers and given numerous talks on the subject. He has a BS in petroleum engineering from Texas A&M University, is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers, and serves on the SPE national continuing education committee. He is also is a registered professional engineer in Oklahoma and Texas.

Vic Tumlinson is operations manager--drilling for Oxy U.S.A. Inc. in Oklahoma City. He directs and manages drilling operations in the Midcontinent region. He began working in the field as a roustabout for Pan American Petroleum Corp., worked for Baroid Division National Lead Co. as a mud logger and drilling fluid sales engineer, and has worked in a variety of domestic and international locations in land and offshore drilling since joining Cities Service Co., an Oxy predecessor, in 1973.
