Mobil Natural Gas Inc. has moved to sharply expand its operations in West Texas.
The expansion will stem from acquisitions of selected natural gas assets from Enron Corp.'s Transwestern Gathering Co., Enron Permian Gathering Inc., and Northern Natural Gas Co.
Mobil said the facilities, which surround its 125 MMcfd Waha gas processing plant in Pecos County, will enhance the company's ability to compete for gas volumes required to bring the plant to capacity. Gas gathering volumes connected to the plant will more than double.
The assets include 260 miles of gathering lines, a 250 MMcfd treatment plant, eight field compressor stations, central compression facilities totaling 4,800 hp, and 170 connected meter stations. The gathering lines, which extend through three countries, will provide Mobil access to new areas and enhance the company's ability to segregate gas streams, leverage compression, and expand its low pressure systems.
Mobil's Waha processing plant is a natural gas hub with seven interstate and intrastate tailgate delivery options.
