Amoco (U.K.) Exploration Co. is preparing to install a new deck on the compression platform in Indefatigable field on southern North Sea Block 49/23a.

The new "pancake" deck, so called because of its flat shape, was scheduled at last report to be towed out from the Grootint (U.K.) Ltd. fabrication yard near Great Yarmouth, U.K., for installation atop the existing platform.

The 650 metric ton pancake deck will house reception and export facilities for gas from Davy and Bessemer fields, due on stream this October, along with existing production from Indefatigable.

Total gas throughput capacity of the new deck is 750 MMcfd. Davy and Bessemer fields are being tied into Indefatigable field under a 160 million ($240 million) program to extend field life (OGJ, Nov. 1, 1993, p. 28).

Amoco said further modifications to the compression platform will include installation of two low pressure compressors. These will enable gas to be recovered at reduced pressure.

More than 800 workers will be housed on the Transocean 4 and Seafox jack up accommodation rigs during the pancake deck hookup and commissioning.

Two platforms were towed out to Davy and Bessemer fields last month. These monotower platforms are likely to be the first of a number of similar Indefatigable satellites if Amoco's drilling program in the area succeeds (OGJ, Mar. 27, p. 30).
