OFFSHORE PROJECTS KEEP OPI'S ORANGE YARD BUSY

The U.S. operating arm of Offshore Pipelines Inc. is experiencing a burst of activity, in its fabrication yard at Orange, Tex. OPI International Inc., Houston, said the increased pace of activity stems from awards of several turnkey projects involving platforms destined for the Gulf of Mexico and export markets. Current projects at the Orange yard include: Conversion of an eight pile deck to a six pile deck and fabrication of piling for Samedan Oil Corp. to be installed on East Cameron Block

The U.S. operating arm of Offshore Pipelines Inc. is experiencing a burst of activity, in its fabrication yard at Orange, Tex.

OPI International Inc., Houston, said the increased pace of activity stems from awards of several turnkey projects involving platforms destined for the Gulf of Mexico and export markets.

Current projects at the Orange yard include:

  • Conversion of an eight pile deck to a six pile deck and fabrication of piling for Samedan Oil Corp. to be installed on East Cameron Block 322.

  • Refurbishment and extension of a four pile jacket and deck for General Atlantic Resources Inc. for installation on South Timbalier Block 277 in 235 ft of water.

  • Fabrication of a tripod platform for Zilkha Energy Co. to be installed on South Marsh Island Block 133 in 214 ft of water.

  • Refurbishment a four pile jacket for Global Natural Resources Inc. to be installed in High Island 23L field.

  • Fabrication of a tripod platform for Shell Offshore Inc. to be installed on Ship Shoal Block 292 in 241 ft of water.

  • Refurbishment of a six pile platform for Enron Gas & Oil Trinidad Ltd. to be installed in Ibis field off Trinidad.

In March, OPI finished fabrication of a four pile jacket and deck for Cabinda Gulf Oil Co. The structure is en route from Orange to Angola for installation in N'Sano field in 250 ft of water.
