Florida Gas Transmission Co. (FGT) has chosen contractors for its Phase III interstate pipeline expansion and let contracts worth a combined $320 million.
Construction of increased compression included in the $900 million, 530 MMcfd project is to begin this month and pipelaying in late March or early April.
Phase Ill contractors are to lay 815 miles of 36 in., 30 in., 26 in., and smaller line in Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida (OGJ, Feb. 7, p. 23). Eleven compressor stations are to be built or expanded along the four state route, adding 16 compressors and a combined 106,870 hp,
When the project is complete by yearend, FGT's share of Florida's energy, markets will increase to 15% from 11%.
