GeoPark names Bayon to succeed Ocampo as CEO
GeoPark Ltd., Bogota, Colombia, has appointed Felipe Bayon as its new chief executive officer and a member of the board of directors, effective June 1, 2025. Andrés Ocampo will step down for personal reasons.
Bayon holds over three decades of experience in the international oil and gas industry. From 2017 to 2023, Bayon served as chief executive officer of Ecopetrol. He began his career with Shell in 1991 and has also served in roles for bp and Pan American Energy.
Andrés Ocampo joined GeoPark in 2010 and was named chief executive officer in 2022 after serving as chief financial officer (OGJ Online, Mar. 10, 2022).
Second-quarter 2025 operations
In this year's second quarter, GeoPark plans to drill 7 gross wells in Colombia and 4 gross wells in Argentina targeting conventional, unconventional, appraisal, and exploration projects.
Key projects include:
- Llanos 34 Block: Drilling 6 infill wells in the Tigui area and continuing the workover campaign.
- Mata Mora Norte Block: Completing and putting on production 4 wells on PAD-12.
- Confluencia Sur Block (GeoPark non-operated, 50%): Spudding PAD-1 (4 wells of 3,000 m lateral length each).
- Llanos 123 Block: Drilling 1 appraisal well.
- Llanos 104 Block (GeoPark operated, 50%): Drilling 1 exploration well.
