Strathcona Resources names COO, restructures management

Oct. 25, 2024
Strathcona Resources has named a new COO as it transitions its leadership structure following the planned retirement of the company CEO.

Strathcona Resources Ltd. has appointed Dale Babiak as chief operating officer as the company transitions its leadership structure to four focused business units – SCR Cold Lake, SCR Lloydminster Thermal, SCR Lloydminster Conventional, and SCR Montney – each with its own president and accompanying management team.

Babiak joined Strathcona in 2020, most recently served as vice-president of production operations, and has more than 35 years of industry experience.

The changes come as Rob Morgan, president and chief executive officer, plans to retire effective Oct. 31, 2024. Morgan has served as chief executive for the past 7 years. Following his retirement, Morgan will step down from Strathcona's board of directors and will be replaced by David Roosth, managing director of Waterous Energy Fund.
