NuVista Energy names Lawford to succeed Wright as CEO

NuVista Energy has appointed Mike Lawford as president and CEO.

NuVista Energy Ltd., Calgary, has appointed Mike Lawford as president and chief executive officer and a director of the company, effective Jan. 1, 2025.

Lawford will succeed Jonathan Wright, who will retire as chief executive officer of the company effective Dec. 31, 2024. Wright will continue to serve the company as a member of its board of directors. Wright has been NuVista’s chief executive since April 2011.

Lawford joined NuVista in 2012 as vice-president of development and was promoted to chief operating officer in 2017 and to president and chief operating officer in March of this year.

NuVista is an exploration and production company engaged in the development, delineation, and production of condensate, NGLs, and natural gas reserves in the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin. The company’s focus is on the scalable and repeatable condensate rich Montney formation in the Pipestone and Wapiti areas of the Alberta Deep basin.
