Bonterra Energy appoints Johnson to succeed Thompson as CFO

Bonterra Energy has named Scott Johnston to succeed Robb Thompson as chief financial officer.

Bonterra Energy Corp., Calgary, has named Scott Johnston to succeed Robb Thompson as chief financial officer.

Thompson, currently chief financial officer and corporate secretary of Bonterra, will retire from Bonterra Oct. 31, 2024, after 13 years with the company. Johnston will assume the chief financial officer role effective Sept. 3, 2024.

Johnston has more than 18 years of finance, capital markets, and engineering experience. He most recently served as a partner at Peters & Co. Ltd., a Calgary-based independent energy focused investment bank, holding the title of principal of corporate finance in the firm's investment banking division. Before transitioning to the capital markets industry, Johnston began his career in the exploration and production industry as an engineer working on reservoir, production, and completions.

In addition to the executive transition, Bonterra has made two leadership promotions. Brad Hetlinger has been appointed vice-president of finance, and Joe Swift has been named vice-president of land.

Hetlinger has been a member of the Bonterra team for nearly 18 years. He most recently served as the company's corporate controller.

Swift is a professional landman with over 20 years of Canadian oil and gas experience. He joined Bonterra as land manager in 2012.
