The board of Petróleo Brasileiro SA (Petrobras) approved the early termination of Jean Paul Prates as chief executive officer and has appointed Clarice Coppetti, Petrobras’ executive director of corporate affairs, as interim president until the election of a new chief executive.
On May 14, Petrobras noted receipt of an official letter from the Ministry of Mines and Energy, that after being informed of Prates' request for early termination of his term through negotiation and, if approved, his intention to resign from the board, it would appoint former Brazilian energy regulator Magda Maria de Regina Chambriard as chief executive officer and member of the board. That appointment remains subject to internal corporate governance procedures, including the compliance and integrity analyses for the company's succession process.
Petrobras' board also removed Sergio Caetano Leite from his role as chief financial and investor relations officer, and appointed the current finance executive manager, Carlos Alberto Rechelo Neto, as interim, until the election of a new chief financial officer.
