R. Casey Olson has elected to retire from his positions as Occidental Petroleum Corp.’s executive vice president, and president of Oxy Oil and Gas - International. Olson has been with the company for 12 years. Between now and year-end, he will continue as an Occidental Petroleum Corp. executive vice president and assist in the completion of a number of pending projects. The company has named Edward A. “Sandy” Lowe president, Oxy Oil and Gas - International Production. Lowe has more than 35 years of industry experience, including 24 years with Oxy. His most recent position was executive vice president, Oxy Oil & Gas - International Production and Engineering. Lowe received his bachelor’s degree from Tulane University.
Apache makes changes in corporate, regional leadership
Apache Corp. has made several changes in the company’s regional and corporate leadership teams. Tom Chambers will assume new responsibilities as vice president - planning and investor relations. He has been vice president - corporate planning since September 2001. Bob Dye will take on new responsibilities as vice president - corporate services. He has been vice president - investor relations since May 1997. Rob Johnston will return to Tulsa as region vice president - central region. He has been region vice president - Argentina since 2006.

GlobaLogix, a Houston-based oilfield services provider, has appointed Robert Burkhardt CFO. Burkhardt has been with GlobaLogix since 2007, previously holding the position of controller. GlobaLogix offers a broad spectrum of services, specializing in capturing operational field data and converting it into usable, actionable information for companies in the oil industry.
Superior Energy Services taps Campbell executive VP
Superior Energy Services Inc. has named Patrick J. Campbell as executive vice president. Since 2000, Campbell has been president and COO of Superior subsidiary Wild Well Control Inc., a provider of firefighting, well control, and engineering services. He has over 40 years of experience in the industry. In his new role, Campbell will oversee Superior’s global subsea well intervention expansion as well as the company’s decommissioning and well control businesses.
Former Hunt Oil chairmannamed senior advisor to Brown Brothers Harriman
Privately-held bank Brown Brothers Harriman has appointed James B. Jennings, former chairman of Hunt Oil Co., as a senior advisor. Jennings joined Hunt in 1979, and was appointed to the company’s board in 1991. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Trinity University in San Antonio, Tex., and a master’s degree from Purdue University.
Universal Well Site Solutions taps Dymond national training director
Universal Well Site Solutions, a provider of automated and wireless well-site production solution, has named Jackie Dymond as its National Director of Field Training and Safety. Dymond was a leader for two decades in mine management and control at five coal mines in the Powder River Basin. Based in Gillette, Wyo., Dymond will be responsible for building and expanding Universal’s training, education, and safety solutions for clients operating in unconventional gas deposits throughout the US.
Varel International names John Capasso new CFO
Varel International, the large independent drill bit company for the oil and gas and mining/industrial industries, has named John Capasso CFO. Capasso joins Varel from Formed Fiber Technologies where he served the company as CFO for the past three years. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Boston College and later attended the MBA program at New York University’s Stern School of Business.
Faubion joins Burleson Cooke
Sherrie L. Faubion has joined Burleson Cooke LLP as Of Counsel and will concentrate her practice in the areas of oil and gas, title, and real estate law. Prior to joining Burleson Cooke, Faubion managed real estate aspects and the closing of transactions involving a divestiture of Jiffy Lube stores for Shell Oil Co. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Houston and her law degree from the University of Houston Law Center.
GTI names new board members,CFO
Gas Technology Institute (GTI), a research, development, and training organization that addresses the nation’s energy and environmental challenges by developing technology-based solutions for consumers, industry, and government, recently made changes to its board of directors and leadership team. Mary Jane McCartney, senior vice president, gas operations, Consolidated Edison Co. of New York Inc. has retired as chair concurrent with her retirement from Consolidated Edison. Randall L. Barnard, senior vice president, technical services and operations, Williams Gas Pipeline was elected to replace McCartney as chair. Christopher D. Herrman will replace Kenneth L. Wicherek, GTI’s vice president of finance, treasurer, and CFO, who will retire June 30, 2009. Herrman joined GTI in March 2007 from Merrill Lynch Capital, where he served as vice president, corporate finance.

Chuck Watson, managing partner of Infinity Energy Capital LLC, has been asked to join the National Executive Committee for the Financial Services Committee of the Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC). Simon to lead A&Das managing director for Raymond James
Christopher J. Simon has joined Raymond James & Associates Inc. as a managing director. Simon is a 25-year veteran of the oil and gas industry and will lead the asset acquisitions and divestitures advisory practice for Raymond James’ energy investment banking business unit. Most recently, Simon served as managing director of acquisitions and divestitures and was a member of the board of directors at Tristone Capital.

ConocoPhillips has made senior management changes. E.L. (Gene) Batchelder, previously senior vice president, services, and chief information officer, has become senior vice president and named to the newly created role of chief administrative officer. Rand Berney, previously vice president and controller, finance, has become senior vice president, corporate shared services. Clayton Reasor, formerly president, US marketing, has been named vice president, corporate affairs. Marty Schoenthaler, formerly general manager, information services, has become general manager, corporate information technology. Glenda Schwarz, previously general auditor and chief ethics officer, finance, has been named vice president and controller, finance. Former TX Railroad Commission counsel, FERC lawyer, joins Fulbright
Former General Counsel of the Texas Railroad Commission and former FERC lawyer Gail Watkins has joined Fulbright & Jaworski LLP’s global energy practice. Watkins joins Fulbright as a partner from Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP. Fulbright lawyers assist energy clients with structuring, financing, and developing infrastructure projects. Watkins received her JD from the University of Texas School of Law and both her bachelor’s degree and PhD degree from the University of Texas at Austin.
