It has 31 wells there producing a combined 8.7 MMcfd of gas and controls more than 120,000 gross acres in the basin.
The new wells, to go to Cretaceous Vermejo coal intervals at 1,040-1,950 ft, are to be placed on production within about 90 days.
Kansas
Geophysical Atlas of Selected Oil & Gas fields in Kansas describes 28 case studies where geophysical methods were used to study Kansas geology, mainly concerning oil and gas exploration.
Kansas Geological Survey, Lawrence, Kan., published the 18 by 13 in. volume, edited by Neil Anderson and Dennis Hedke. Many of the papers reproduce field records, allowing users to analyze how the seismic lines, logs, and maps of potential fields were used. Cost is $80 plus shipping.
Louisiana
Shell Offshore Inc. plans to drill a wildcat on Ship Shoal Block 46 off Terrebonne Parish.
The 1 State Lease 15091, projected to 15,000 ft, is 11/2 miles northwest of a Miocene gas/condensate well in Block 45 field, PI reported.
Sonat Exploration Co. completed four dual lateral Austin chalk gas/condensate wells in western Vernon Parish, bringing the number of central Louisiana horizontal wells it operates to 18, PI reported.
The most widely spaced of the four wells are 8 miles apart in an area east of Burr Ferry North and Haddens North fields.
