ADNOC, Eni discuss acceleration of gas supply projects
Abu Dhabi National Oil Co. (ADNOC) and Eni SPA met in Abu Dhabi to discuss acceleration of the Ghasha gas development project and time-to-market of new discoveries to increase worldwide gas supply.
The Ghasha development project is made up of the Hail, Ghasha, Dalma, and other fields offshore United Arab Emirates. Production from the Ghasha concession is expected to start around 2025, ramping up to produce more than 1.5 bcfd of natural gas before the end of the decade.
During the meeting, Eni presented fast-track development options for the recent gas discovery in its first exploration well drilled in Offshore Block 2, Abu Dhabi (OGJ Online, July 29, 2022). Eni also suggested leveraging other projects currently under execution and utilizing existing ADNOC infrastructure with the aim to optimize costs and accelerate common production targets. Eni is operator of Offshore Block 2 (70%) with partner PTTEP (30%).
The companies also analyzed initiatives aimed at strengthening the partnership through energy transition initiatives with a focus on possible development of a carbon capture usage and storage (CCUS) project.
