ConocoPhillips Sabah Gas Ltd. received operatorship of the Kebabangan Cluster Production Sharing Contract (KBBC PSC), offshore Sabah, Malaysia, from Petronas.
The transfer took effect on Jan. 21, 2025, making ConocoPhillips Sabah Gas Ltd. the sole operator of the KBBC PSC, which has been extended until end 2025 from 2037.
Previously, the KBBC PSC was operated by Kebabangan Petroleum Operating Company Sdn. Bhd. (KPOC), a joint operating company comprising Petronas Carigali Sdn. Bhd., Shell Energy Asia Ltd., and ConocoPhillips Sabah Gas Ltd. (OGJ Online, Mar. 8, 2005).
The project has an export capacity up to 750 MMscfd.
According to an April 2024 fact sheet from ConocoPhillips, gas is transported from the KBB platform via pipeline for sale to the domestic gas market. During 2019, KBB tied in to a nearby third-party floating LNG vessel which provided increased gas offtake capacity.
ConocoPhillips noted in the same fact sheet that it is working various stages of exploration, development, and production across about 2.7 million net acres in Malaysia, with working interests in six production sharing contracts.
