VMOS SA let a contract to CB&I to progress development of the Vaca Muerta Oil Sur project in central Argentina.

The contract is for the engineering, procurement, fabrication, and construction (EPC) of 630,000 cu m (4 million bbl) of total storage for the Vaca Muerta crude oil exportation plant in Punta Colorada, Rio Negro Province, Argentina.

The Vaca Muerta Sur pipeline is expected to span 437 km, transporting oil from the Vaca Muerta formation to a coastal export terminal. The project is being developed by VMOS, a special-purpose midstream oil company led by Argentina's state-owned energy company, YPF, with Pan American Energy, Vista Energy, and Pampa Energía as initial shareholders.

CB&I, which values the contract at $100-250 million, said construction activities are expected to begin in this year’s second quarter. The project is targeted for completion in fourth-quarter 2026.

Earlier this month, VMOS let an engineering, procurement, and construction management services contract to Técnicas Reunidas for the project’s development (OGJ Online, Jan. 6, 2025).
