ADNOC contractor signs lump sum contract for Ruwais LNG project

TJN Ruwais JV let a lump sum contract to CB&I for works related to development of an LNG project in Ruwais, Abu Dhabi, UAE.

ADNOC contractor TJN Ruwais JV has let a lump sum contract to CB&I for engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) of two cryogenic tanks and associated civil, structural, mechanical and piping works for the sanctioned LNG project in Ruwais, Abu Dhabi, UAE. 

Under the contract, CB&I will deliver two 180,000 cu m full containment concrete LNG tanks, including all piping and civil infrastructure. Project delivery will be led from CB&I's UAE office for tank construction, Plainfield, Ill., USA, office for engineering, and CB&I's Saudi Arabia and Thailand offices will provide fabrication and modularization support, respectively, CB&I said in a release Jan. 8.

CB&I's construction activities are expected to begin in November 2025 with project completion targeted in early 2028.The company values the contract at $250-500 million. 

In June 2024, ADNOC made a final investment decision to proceed with the Ruwais LNG project after issuing a limited notice to proceed to Technip Energies, leader of the TJN Ruwais, to begin early EPC activities (OGJ Online, June 14, 2024; Mar. 13, 2024). 

Once complete, the project is expected to be the first net zero LNG plant in the Middle East.

TJN Ruwais JV is a joint venture of Technip Energies France-Abu Dhabi, JGC Corp., and NMDC Energy.
