Petrobras has let contracts to Seadrill Ltd. for two drilling rigs for work offshore Brazil.
The ultra-deepwater drillship West Tellus was awarded a 1,095-day contract for Sépia and Atapu fields in the Santos basin. The contract program, expected to contribute about $498 million to Seadrill’s order backlog, including additional services and excluding a mobilization fee of $41 million, is scheduled to begin in first-quarter 2026. The contract contains an optional period of up to 305 additional days.
Petrobras is operator of both fields, with a 65.7% interest in Atapu field and a 55.3% stake in Sépia field.
The operator also recontracted the ultra-deepwater drillship West Jupiter for 1,095-days.
The contract will contribute about $493 million to Seadrill’s order backlog, including additional services and excluding a mobilization fee of $31.5 million. The program is expected to begin in first-quarter 2026.
Both drillships are currently on contract with Petrobras for work offshore Brazil.
