Harbour Energy joins PAE LNG project in Argentina

Dec. 4, 2024
Harbour Energy has acquired a 20% stake in Pan American Energy and Golar's LNG's project to develop a floating LNG plant in Argentina.

Harbour Energy PLC agreed to acquire from Pan American Energy (PAE) and Golar LNG a 15% interest in Southern Energy SA, a joint venture of PAE and Golar LNG dedicated to managing aspects of a proposed floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) export project on the coast of Río Negro, Argentina (OGJ Online, July 5, 2024).

Golar LNG owns the Hilli Episeyo FLNG vessel, which has an annual production and export capacity of 2.45 million tons of LNG, equivalent to 11.5 million cu m/day (MMcmd) of natural gas.

Harbour’s entry adds to the recent participation of Pampa Energía, which acquired a 20% stake in the project in November. State-owned YPF may also join, as communicated by the oil and gas company’s chief executive officer Horacio Marin.

Currently, PAE retains majority control with a 55% stake in Southern Energy. Pampa holds 20%, Harbour 15%, and Golar LNG holds 10%. If YPF joins, it could acquire up to 4% in the coming weeks.
