Repsol let a front-end engineering design contract to McDermott for the Polok and Chinwol field development project in the Gulf of Mexico.

Repsol Exploración México SA has let a front-end engineering design (FEED) contract to McDermott for Polok and Chinwol field development in the Gulf of Mexico.

The Polok-1 and Chinwol-1 discovery wells were drilled in Block 29 in the Salina basin. The block is in the southeastern part of the Gulf of Mexico, off the coasts of Veracruz and Tabasco.

Polok-1, which reached a total depth of 2,620 m, uncovered a net column of oil of more than 200 m. Chinwol-1, with a total depth of 1,850 m, found a net column of oil of more than 150 m.

Under the FEED contract scope, McDermott will provide services for the project's engineering, procurement, construction, and installation (EPCI) of subsea, umbilicals, risers, and flowlines (SURF).

The project's engineering delivery will be led from McDermott's Houston office.

Repsol is operator of the Block 29 consortium (30%) with partners PC Carigali Mexico Operations (28.33%), Wintershall DEA (25%) and PTTEP Mexico E&P Ltd. (16.67%).
