Oil India Ltd. has started exploration offshore India with the arrival of the Blackford Dolphin deep water semisubmersible rig.

Oil India Ltd. has started long-term exploration offshore India with the arrival of the Blackford Dolphin deepwater semisubmersible rig.

The Dolphin Drilling AS rig arrived in Indian waters in October and has since completed customs clearance and client acceptance. Indian offshore drilling contractor Dynamic Drilling will perform drilling operations on the rig.

The rig contract spans a firm three-well drilling campaign over 14 months with a firm value of $154 million for the rig and associated services, plus an optional period for 7 months (OGJ Online Mar. 19, 2024).
