Shell Exploration and Production Inc. completed its 2024 Gulf of Mexico (GOM) subsea survey using an autonomous robot.

The project covered inactive and active assets off the Louisiana coast. All testing was completed using a Nauticus Robotics Inc. robot without a tether at depths up to 1,000 m, Nauticus Robotics said in a release Nov. 5.

The initial scope of work awarded in 2023 included inspection services on a Shell subsea field development in the GOM. The successful completion of this work combined with the submission of a final report completes the initial 2024 scope for the service contract.
