Saudi Aramco has let contracts for two offshore projects in Saudi Arabia to Saipem under an existing long-term agreement (LTA).
Saipem’s scope of work under the first project involves the engineering, procurement, construction, and installation (EPCI) of a 42-in. crude trunkline about 50 km in length for Abu Safa field. Activities related to the second project involve production maintenance programs for Berri and Manifa fields.
Abu Safah is a joint petroleum reservoir between the waters of Bahrain and Saudi Arabia. It is operated by Saudi Aramco for both countries and contains 6.1 billion bbl of oil. Production will continue until the field reaches its economic limit in 2055.
Marjan field was discovered in 1967 and originally contained 2.31 billion bbl of recoverable crude oil. Berri field was discovered in 1964, is partly onshore and partly offshore in the eastern coast of Saudi Arabia and contains 18.2 billion bbl EUR oil reserves. Production from Marjan and Berri is expected to be 300,000 b/d and 250,000 b/d, respectively, by 2025 (OGJ Online, March 13, 2023).
The overall amount of the two projects is about $500 million.
