PTT Exploration and Production Public Co. Ltd. (PTTEP) has agreed to acquire Wintershall Dea’s 10% participating interest in the Ghasha ultra-sour gas concession offshore Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates.
The concession, which comprises Hail, Ghasha, Dalma, Nasr, Satah al Razboot (SARB), Bu Haseer, Shuweihat, and Mubarraz offshore sour gas fields, is expected to produce more than 1,500 MMcfd of gas before the end of the decade, PTTEP said in a release June 11.
Wintershall’s stake in the Ghasha project is not part of the deal struck in 2023 with Harbour Energy to sell its exploration and production business, the company said in a separate release (OGJ Online, Dec. 21, 2023).
Wintershall intends to close its office in Abu Dhabi and all operations in the country in compliance with all contractual and legal regulations.
Wintershall was awarded the 10% Ghasha concession interest in November 2018 (OGJ Online, Nov. 26, 2018).
