Equinor (UK) Ltd. exercised a 2-year option on the contract with Odfjell Technology (UK) Ltd. for provision of full drilling services on Mariner A platform, about 150 km east of the Shetland Islands.
This service encompasses managing operations, maintenance, and repairs for both the main rig drilling infrastructure and the intervention completion unit, along with providing engineering studies, modifications, and upgrades.
Odfjell Technology has held this contract to support the Mariner asset since 2019. This option extends the contract to November 2026, with an additional 2-year option remaining thereafter.
Mariner field, which began production in 2019, consists of two reservoirs: Heimdal and Maureen. Mariner is expected to produce more than 300 million bbl oil over the next 30 years (OGJ Online, Nov. 30, 2023).
Equinor is operator at Mariner (65.11%) with partners JX Nippon Corp. (20%), Siccar Point Energy E&P (8.89%), and ONE-Dyas BV (6%).
