Rhino Resources Ltd., a private company engaged in energy exploration offshore and onshore Africa, has let a deep water integrated multi-well construction contract to Halliburton Co. for work in Namibia. No contract value was disclosed.
Under the agreement, Halliburton will provide complete solutions to construct exploration and appraisal wells, along with testing services, the service provider said in a release Apr. 24. Halliburton also will "extend its country operation facilities to support all product service lines from Namibia to enhance collaboration and maximize asset value for Rhino Resources and Namibian customers," it continued.
Rhino Resources holds operatorship (85%) of Block 2914A (PEL 85) in the shallower portion of Namibia’s Orange basin (500-1,500 m water depth). The block lies less than 20 km from the nearest discovery and amidst multiple Namibian discoveries made over the last 2 years.
In late 2022, Rhino conducted a 3D seismic survey covering 1,700 sq km with the aim of reconfirming and expanding the block’s lead inventory.
According to its website, Rhino and its partners are progressing with the planning and contracting of a 2-well exploration drilling and testing campaign, expected to begin in November 2024.
