HOUSTON, July 10 -- Duke Energy Corp., Charlotte, NC, and Fluor Corp., Aliso Viejo, Calif., announced plans to dissolve Duke/Fluor Daniel (D/FD), a 14-year-old partnership between affiliates of the two companies.
Fluor requested the venture's dissolution following a continued dramatic decline in demand for construction of new power generation. D/FD partners are working to develop a plan to wind down the business during 2 years. This action is not expected to have a material impact on either parent corporation, the companies said.
Fluor Chairman and CEO Alan Boeckmann said that this will eliminate the cost of a stand-alone organization. "As a global contractor, Fluor will continue to identify and pursue power-generation opportunities," worldwide, he said.
