HOUSTON, June 14 -- Quantum Energy Partners, Houston, said it would pair with former Sapient Energy Corp. executive vice-president Chuck Perrin to form Rockford Energy Partners LLC. Quantum will contribute $15 million in cash toward the venture, while an undisclosed amount of cash will be contributed by the new Rockford management.
Rockford is being formed to acquire, exploit, and produce oil and natural gas properties in the US Midcontinent, with operations to focus mainly in Oklahoma and the Texas Panhandle, the company said.
Rockford's management comprises Perrin, president and CEO; Robert W. Von Rhee, vice-president, geology; Thomas E. Boullt Jr., vice-president, reservoir engineering; and Susan C. Keary, director, accounting.
Perrin and Von Rhee formerly worked for Tulsa-based Sapient Energy, which was acquired by Chesapeake Energy Corp., Oklahoma City, in late 2001. Boullt, meanwhile, joins Rockford from Houston-based Apache Corp.
"Rockford will primarily focus on acquiring long-life gas reserves in the Midcontinent through production purchases in the $5-50 million size range," the company said. "Rockford prefers to purchase operated assets where it can apply its technical capabilities to enhance production." Rockford will be based in Tulsa.
