By OGJ editors HOUSTON, Nov. 18 -- Anadarko Petroleum Corp. Pres. and Chief Executive Officer Jim Hackett will take on the additional role of chairman after Robert J. Allison Jr. steps down. Both changes will be effective Jan. 1, 2006.
Allison, who will remain as an active director, was bestowed the honorary title of chairman emeritus because of the "tremendous impact his 32 years of service has had on the company," Anadarko said.
Allison joined Anadarko Petroleum Co. in 1973. He was named president in 1976 and chief executive officer in 1979. In 1986, he was named chairman and chief executive officer of Anadarko Petroleum Corp. following its spin-off from Panhandle Eastern Corp.
