Kimmeridge signs deals for Eagle Ford assets, natural gas transportation
Kimmeridge Texas Gas (KTG), an affiliate of energy sector-focused investment firm Kimmeridge, has agreed to acquire certain Eagle Ford shale upstream assets from a private seller.
The assets, which include about 30,000 acres and current production of 65 MMcfed, overlap with KTG's existing 75,000-acre position in the play, the company said in a release Oct. 11.
KTG anticipates continuing its multi-rig program focused on the Eagle Ford and Austin Chalk, with a target of delivering over 500 MMcfed net on a pro forma basis in 2026.
Kimmeridge also signed a definitive multi-year transportation agreement with Kinder Morgan Texas Pipeline LLC (KMTP) to secure midstream takeaway for its Eagle Ford natural gas, enabling KTG to deliver natural gas across multiple LNG plants along the Gulf Coast.
Earlier this year, Kimmeridge invested with Commonwealth LNG LLC, completing the development funding required to advance the 9.3 million tonnes/year liquefaction plant in Cameron Parish, La. (OGJ Online, Aug. 14, 2023). At the same time, Commonwealth LNG and Kimmeridge agreed in principle on terms for a 20-year, 2 million tpy LNG offtake commitment along with the associated gas supply.
