Woodside Energy Ltd. has awarded a contract to Hereema for decommissioning of the riser turret mooring of the Nganhurra FPSO at Enfield oil field offshore Western Australia.

Woodside Energy Ltd. has awarded a contract to Hereema Marine Contractors for decommissioning of the riser turret mooring (RTM) of the Nganhurra floating production, storage, and offtake (FPSO) vessel at Enfield oil field in license WA-28-L on the North West Shelf off Western Australia.

Work includes the integrated engineering, preparation, removal, and transport of the RTM, Hereema said. Neither Woodside nor Hereema revealed the value of the contract.

The task will be accomplished by lifting the structure in one piece onto a barge and transporting it to either the Henderson supply base or another suitable Australian port for dismantling and recycling or re-use.

The contract marks Hereema’s first decommissioning project in Australia.

The FPSO, built by Samsung Heavy Industries in South Korea, began operating at Enfield in 2006 and ceased production late 2018.

Earlier this year, Woodside let a decommissioning contract for the shut-in oil field to DOF Subsea.

That contract included project management, engineering, fabrication, and decommissioning services to be performed during second-half 2022 using the Skandi Hercules vessel.

Work includes recovery of 18 subsea Christmas trees, 18 flowbases and associated spool sections from the seafloor, plus one wellhead severance.

Enfield lies about 50 km northwest of Exmouth on the Western Australian coast.
