PC Ketapang II Ltd., a Petronas subsidiary, was awarded the North Ketapang block, onshore and offshore East Java, during the second round of the Indonesia Petroleum Bid Round 2021. The award was announced by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Indonesia.
North Ketapang, covering about 3,132 sq km in water depths up to 100 m, is adjacent to a block where a discovery was made last year.
Petronas will serve as operator with 100% equity. Petronas also is operator of the Ketapang production sharing contract (PSC) and North Madura II PSC offshore East Java, and is a joint venture partner in six PSCs onshore and offshore Sumatra, Natuna Sea, East Java, as well as East Indonesia.
