BPTT’s Cassia compression platform project remains on schedule for 3Q 2021 start
BP Trinidad & Tobago LLC’s (BPTT) Cassia compression platform project offshore Trinidad and Tobago remains on schedule, the company recently reported. Once completed and on production, the Cassia project will enable BPTT to access and produce low-pressure natural gas reserves from currently producing fields in the Greater Cassia Area.
The project, sanctioned in 2018, will involve the construction of a new platform, Cassia C, which will be BPTT’s 16th offshore facility.
BPTT let a contract to McDermott International Inc. in January for the project’s engineering, procurement, and construction phase (OGJ Online, Jan. 25, 2019). The topside and bridge, which are being fabricated in Altamira, Mexico, are 23% complete. The jacket and bridge landing frame, meanwhile, are being constructed at TOFCO in Trinidad and Tobago and are 43% complete, BPTT said.
Gas production from the Greater Cassia Area will be routed to the Cassia C platform for compression before being exported via the adjacent existing Cassia B platform. Cassia C will be installed 57 km off southeastern Trinidad and Tobago. The platform will have a throughput capacity of 1.2 bscfd of gas.
The start of gas production from the facility is expected in third-quarter 2021. The Cassia jacket is the latest of BPTT’s infrastructure to be built at TOFCO. Of the nine platforms that have been built at TOFCO, BPTT has accounted for six, starting with Cannonball to Juniper in 2017.
