KazMunayGas increases oil reserves estimate at Uzen field
JSC NC KazMunayGas subsidiary Ozenmunaigas JSC has increased recoverable oil reserves at Uzen field in the Mangisau region of the Republic of Kazakhstan by 39.9 million tonnes following oil deposits discovered following additional exploration of the field that began in 2017.
A high-resolution 3D seismic survey (368 sq km) was carried out, the entire well stock (more than 7,500 wells) was reinterpreted, the geological concept was revised, and the geological 3D model was rebuilt during 2017–2021 under the program. Following the work, the field’s structure was detailed and new oil deposits were discovered, the company said.
The adjusted volumes were put on the books by the State Reserves Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan at the end of 2021.
The field development project is being adjusted to consider new reserves with a plan to put them into production.
In 2020, Ozenmunaigas accounted for 6% of the oil and gas condensate production volume in Kazakhstan. The company produces oil and gas condensate at Uzen and Karamandybas fields.
Uzen is a multilayer field with a complex structure, where oil and gas reservoirs are concentrated in the terrigenous section of the Jurassic-Cretaceous deposits.
