MOL Group and Oil & Gas Development (O&GD) discovered a new oil field near Galgahévíz, Hungary.

The Galgahévíz-4 discovery well was drilled at the end of May in Galgahévíz, which is part of the Mogyoród concession area. MOL subsidiary Rotary Zrt. drilled the well using the R-69 drilling rig.

The well reached target depth of 2,400 m in 37 days. Following successful tests, the well was put into production and can produce about 1,000 b/d of oil. It will be processed at the Danube refinery in Százhalombatta, the company said.

MOL and O&GD share the extracted volume in a 49-51% ratio. The Galgahévíz-4 well contributes about 4% to MOL's crude oil production in Hungary.

The discovery comes on the heels  MOL's oil discovery last March in the Transdanubia region near Somogysámson.
