OGDCL discovers gas condensate in Sindh Province
Oil & Gas Development Co. Ltd. (OGDCL) has made a gas condensate discovery at the Baloch-2 exploration well in Sinjhoro block, Sanghar district, Sindh province, Pakistan.
The exploration well spudded in the Baloch development and production lease Feb. 24, 2024, and drilled to 3,920-m TVD in the Sembar formation. Based on results of wireline logs interpretation, drill stem Test 3 showed 6.8-MMscfd gas and 388-b/d condensate through a 32/64-in. choke with 2,180 psi wellhead flowing pressure.
This discovery marks the first milestone in Sinjhoro block from Sembar formation. The formation is widely distributed across Middle and Lower Indus basin, Pakistan. The discovery not only confirms the untapped potential of the Sembar formation but also opens a new play, paving the way for further exploration and development of hydrocarbon reserves in the block.
In addition to appraisal and development of Baloch 2, OGDCL is proactively planning to re-enter existing shut-in wells and swiftly develop the full potential of Sembar formation.
OGDCL is operator of Sinjhoro block (76%) with partners Orient Petroleum Inc. (19%) and Government Holdings (Private) Ltd. (5%).
