Chariot to test Dartois discovery in Morocco
Chariot Ltd. will flow test the OBA-1 well to determine the gas resource potential on the Dartois prospect in the Loukos onshore license, onshore Morocco, the company said in a late May release.
The well was drilled to a final measured depth of 901 m through the target reservoirs. Wireline logs, cuttings, and gas data confirm the presence of reservoirs over an interval of about 200 m gross thickness, corresponding to the pre-drill targets.
Within the reservoirs is a 70 m gross interval of primary interest containing elevated resistivities coincident with elevated mud gas readings, indicating potential gas pays with no identified water-bearing reservoirs, the company said. Further post-drill analysis will be conducted in preparation for well flow testing which will determine the well productivity and the gas resource potential of the discovery.
The well is targeting 12 bcf best estimate recoverable prospective resources, and a successful prospect could potentially unlock a trend of prospects with combined 20 bcf best estimate recoverable resources (OGJ Online, May 20, 2024).
The well will be suspended to allow future rigless flow testing operations and potential use as a producer well. The rig will subsequently be demobilized.
Chariot is operator of the license with 75% interest. The Office National des Hydrocarbures et des Mines (ONHYM) holds the remaining 25%.
