Equinor makes discovery near Johan Castberg

Equinor ASA has made an oil and gas discovery in Skavl Stø exploration well 7220/8-3 near the Johan Castberg field in the Barents Sea. Equinor will consider tying the discovery into Johan Castberg.

Equinor ASA has made an oil and gas discovery in Skavl Stø exploration well 7220/8-3 near the Johan Castberg field in the Barents Sea. Equinor will consider tying the discovery into Johan Castberg.

The well, the 13th exploration in production license (PL) 532, was drilled by Transocean Enabler, 5 km south-southeast of discovery well 7220/8-1 and 210 km northwest of Hammerfest in 360-390 m of water.

The size of the discovery is preliminarily estimated between 5-10 million bbl recoverable oil equivalent.

Equinor is operator at PL 532 (50%) with partners Petoro AS (20%) and Vår Energi ASA (30%).
