bp lets EPCI contract for Ginger project offshore Trinidad and Tobago
bp plc has let a contract to SLB OneSubsea and Subsea7 SA for its newly sanctioned Ginger project offshore Trinidad and Tobago.
The engineering, procurement, construction, and installation (EPCI) contract was awarded to the Subsea Integration Alliance (SIA), a partnership of SLB OneSubsea and Subsea 7, under a new framework agreement.
bp’s Ginger development lies off the southeast coast of the island of Trinidad, at water depths of up to 90 m. In March, bp Trinidad and Tobago sanctioned the gas development project, which at peak, is expected to have capacity to produce 62,000 b/d of oil (OGJ Online, Mar. 28, 2025). Ginger will include four subsea wells and subsea trees tied back to the existing Mahogany B platform.
As part of the EPCI award, Subsea7 will supply a diver-installed tie-in system, a flexible production flowline, and associated infrastructure. SLB OneSubsea will deliver four standardized vertical monobore subsea trees and tubing hangers. It will also deliver the first high-integrity pressure protection system (HIPPS) manifold in the region, the service provider said.
Project management and engineering activities will begin immediately at Subsea7's office in Houston, Tex., with offshore operations scheduled for 2026. bp’s goal is to reach first gas in 2026.
Subsea 7 values the project value somewhere between $150 and $300 million.
