bp Trinidad & Tobago (bpTT) has been awarded the NCMA 2 block about 30 miles offshore Trinidad’s north coast as part of the Shallow Water 2023/24 bid round that closed in May 2024.

The block opens a new area of exploration for bpTT as all its current production comes from Columbus basin off Trinidad’s east coast, the company said in a release Nov. 20.

Since the beginning of the year, bpTT has completed its infill drilling program, divested certain mature assets, entered into a joint venture with EOG Resources for the Coconut development, and is close to completing the Cypre development drilling campaign (OGJ Online, Aug. 30, 2024; Feb. 26, 2024).
