Shell advances Manatee project with engineering, procurement services contract
Shell plc has let a contract to KBR for the Beachfield Manatee upgrade, the onshore portion of the Manatee gas field project off the east coast of Trinidad and Tobago.
The award, under which KBR will provide engineering and procurement services for the conventional gas development project, follows recently completed contracts under which KBR delivered the front-end engineering design across the Manatee project, the service company said in a release Oct. 14.
Shell took final investment decision to develop the 2.7-tcf Manatee project earlier this year. Development will utilize a normally unattended installation platform in the area with eight development wells via a 110-km, 32-in. OD pipeline to the Shell-operated 3-bcfd onshore Beachfield gas processing plant, for onward shipment to Atlantic LNG and the National Gas Co. of Trinidad and Tobago for use in the domestic market.
The field is slated to start production in 2027 and reach peak production of about 104,000 boe/d (OGJ Online, Aug. 12, 2024).
Shell is operator of Manatee with a 100% working interest under the sub-Block 6D production sharing contract.
