bp signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Government of the Republic of Iraq to negotiate a redevelopment program for the Kirkuk region. Negotiations are expected to be complete early in 2025.

The MoU includes the Baba and Avanah domes and three adjacent fields in Federal Iraq: Bai Hassan, Jambur, and Khabbaz. The fields are operated by the Government of Iraq’s North Oil Company (NOC).

Work to be contemplated to stabilize production and reverse decline includes rehabilitation of certain existing infrastructure and construction of new infrastructure, including gas expansion projects, combined with a drilling program.
