LONDON, Nov. 16 -- Australia's Hardman Resources reported "good oil shows" from a gross interval of 180 m, directly above basement, in its Nzizi-1 slimhole well in the Ugandan portion of the Albertine basin.
The Block 2 well is an appraisal of the Mputa-1 discovery 6 km northeast, which encountered a similar section (OGJ, Oct. 16, 2006, Newsletter). It reached TD of 1,065 m.
Wireline logs and pressure measurements indicated an interbedded sequence of oil-bearing sands and shales, Hardman said. It will plug the 6¾-in. hole without testing.
Hardman Petroleum Africa Pty. Ltd. is operator with a 50% interest in Block 2. Tullow Oil PLC holds the remaining interest.
The partners also have a Block 2 discovery called Waraga (see map, OGJ, Sept. 4, 2006, p. 56).
