TGS-NOPEC Geophysical Co. has begun shooting a 2,400 sq km multiclient 3D seismic survey in the Barents Sea offshore Norway.
The survey covers five blocks in the southwestern Barents Sea, four of which four are in quad 7017 and one is in quad 7018. All blocks are proposed by the Ministry of Petroleum and Energy to be included in the 22nd license round on the Norwegian Continental Shelf.
The M/V Polar Duchess is towing 10 x 6,000 m streamer with 75 m separation. Fast track data will be available in time to perform interpretation for the 22nd round. Data processing will be performed by TGS and available to clients Q3 2012.

Alan Petzet is Chief Editor-Exploration of Oil & Gas Journal in Houston. He is editor of the Weekly E&D Newsletter, emailed to OGJ subscribers, and a regular contributor to the OGJ Online subscriber website.
Petzet joined OGJ in 1981 after 13 years in the Tulsa World business-oil department. He was named OGJ Exploration Editor in 1990. A native of Tulsa, he has a BA in journalism from the University of Tulsa.
